6 reasons why people blog

The common definition of a blog is: “A web page that serves as publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. A blog often reflects the personality of the author.
There are various reasons why people blog. I, being a blogger, have been reflecting on this question for some time. Everybody has its own purpose, agenda and motivation to start a blog and then take it to the next level. In the beginning when this whole blogging thing started, people used it as the online journal. Now the blogging thing has grown and is used for multiple purposes:-

1. For the love of writing.

There are people like me who love to write even if it is silly, mundane that no one wants to read it. They still write because they love it. Writing is freeing one self and blogging has become a great platform for it. No matter what type of blog you are going to start, you have to write and write exceptionally well for people to pay attention to your ideas.
2. Business
Since the number of people using the internet is growing, the business companies have taken up blogging to advertise their products and increase their sales. They get reviews and change their strategy accordingly. Business companies interact with the buyers. Thus blogging helps in promoting products to a greater extent.
3. Journaling

Journaling is a therapy itself. But writing daily in a diary is no fun. Everybody desires that his voice is heard. People record their day to day activities. In this way they are not only dealing with their issues but are also getting connected to people with same problems. They together can come up with wonderful solutions. For example I suffer from OCD and depression so I have started a blog about it in form of a journal. A random comment of “stay strong” or don’t lose hope,” gives me confidence and hope.
4. To make a difference in a society
There is a lot of injustice in today’s world. There are people who want to do something about it but they don’t have enough resources so they start blogging. Blogging gives them a platform to raise their voices. Their voice is heard by hundreds and thousands of people who can come together to make a difference. Social issues like domestic abuse, children and women rights are mostly discussed by people wanting to make a difference.
5.For creativity and fun

Well, there are people who are naturally creative. They do crafting, invent new things etc etc. They post their crafting projects online. Blogging about their favorite crafting projects gives them confidence. It also gives them followers who admire their work. If you want to make a school project, Christmas gift or birthday card, you can search these blogging sites and you will get lots of creative, unique ideas.
6.For Education
Some people want to educate on a specific topic they think they specialize in. It can be anything from writing tips to graphic designing.
Share in the comments the reason you blog. Happy reading 🙂

Writing after a long time!

191vgo8sulvv5jpg

Writing after a long time seems like seeing your first love after many years. All those beautiful memories, the,the butterflies in the stomach, the tinkling behind the ears, all come rushing back. Writing is my first love. When I was a little kid, my  only dream was to be a big, successful  writer. And that is the reason I started my first book when I was 12. I thought that in two years I would have a successful career but alas, my childhood wishes. Being a professional writer is one hell of a job and I think I am not ready for it yet. I am trying my best to polish my writing skills through this blog and through my poetry.

One thing that is bad about writing is not having enough money. First you have to get your degree, find a job to solve money issues and then go back to your writing life.

This is what makes things tough. So writing is definitely not easy! Happy reading 🙂

3 simple secrets to lead a happy life

ha

1. Don’t care what others think of you
“Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.
-Lao Tzu
Everybody has its own opinions about you. What they think of you is none of your business. It is your life, your ways. You have complete right to live the way you want.
2. Enjoy small moments
“It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.”
John Wooden

Life is too short so don’t take anything for granted. Don’t hold grudges. Live fully. Enjoy small moments like the smell of new book, smell of freshly pressed linen, the opening of a bright new flower, bright sunny day… They are not silly, mundane moments. They can actually lift your mood. Don’t forget to enjoy them.
3. Stop worrying
“Let’s not allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget. Remember “Life is too short to be little”.”
― Dale Carnegie, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living
I have learned after a long time and after long periods of tension that worrying doesn’t solve a problem. It is not a solution. Instead of worrying and stressing yourself, try to come up with a meaningful solution. Worrying, pacing up and down will not get you anything. It just drains your energy. So stop worrying.

My small life has taught me these three rules. Share in the comments what are your secrets for leading a happy life. Happy reading 🙂

My writing life

    07036_HD

Writing is not about making beautiful sentences; it is about putting one’s emotions and feelings on the paper. It is about immersing one self in the world of writing. The writing can be poetry, fiction, nonfiction etc etc. I have been living in this world for many years. Basically I read a lot. I remember when I was in 7th grade; I used to borrow four, five books at one time from the school library. The books had to be returned after one week. I used to finish all those books. Nobody ever believed me. But I did finish because I loved and still love drowning myself in the world of books.
The love of reading took me on the journey of writing. It is much tougher than reading. Obviously. I used to watch bey blade and then started writing their episodes reviews. That was the beginning. After that I started poetry. I never knew that I had a poet in me. One day in 7th grade, our English teacher asked us to write a poem on different topics. I chose the topic snow. Surprisingly, the teacher loved my poem. She asked if she could keep it and I said yes. For the next seven years, I focused on poetry. I evolved as a poet and started sending my poems to different young adult magazines. I also wrote a novel during that time, “The shadows of the past”.
In 2014 I started guest blogging on a famous blog named, “Finding never land”. After few months I started my own blog on blogger. I deleted that blog because I found it boring. Then I made the WordPress blog. WordPress is nice and pretty and very easy to manage. Now I have two blogs: Rainbows and storms and Living with OCD and depression. I write poems, articles, letters, book reviews on “Rainbows and storms.” On “Living with OCD and depression,” I write my journal entries.
I don’t have too many followers but it has been only 3 months and I am doing it for my love of writing, not for the stats.
I hope you guys (my followers) like my effort. That was my journey. Tell me yours in comments. Happy reading 

Short term remedies for depression

This post was first published on my other blog: “rainbows and storms”.

Living with OCD and depression

Depression is a hell for me and everyone suffering from it. The long term solutions are therapy and medicines. I don’t take medicine because of the fear of getting addicted to it. There are some short term remedies that work for me and I hope that they work for you too.
1. Exercise

index
For a very long time I didn’t believe in exercise. Maybe I never really understood its purpose or the benefits. But once I started it, reluctantly at first, the benefits were immeasurable. I feel calm after exercise. All the bad thoughts in my head usually go after exercise. I see hope in future which is an extremely rare thing in depression.
So folks don’t ignore exercise even if you have got nothing to do with depression.
2. Reading and writing

Reading is my life. It takes me in the beautiful world of imagination. There are no boundaries…

An excerpt form my diary

     manuscript-203465_640

This world is crazy and stupid. Don’t you agree? I don’t think that there is anybody who clearly understands the phenomenons going around in this world.

For instance, you work extremely hard for something but life denies you that thing. And then there is something that you didn’t work hard to retrieve but it is given to you in silver platter. How absurd that is….

I always say that life is life, it is not a heaven. That sentence has helped me a lot in testing times. This life is difficult to live for normal people but for people suffering from mental disorders, it is hell. Pure hell. Well, not always 😀

Sometimes the circumstances become so worse. You feel hopeless. Extreme hopelessness grips you like you are carrying  a heavy weight in your body and in your mind.

But folks let’s not lose hope. There is always a hope, a silver lining even in the ugliest, darkest place.

The magical side of my imagination

I came across this daily inspiration while writing journal in the app journey.
“What magic powers would you like to have and how would you use it?”
I love magic. The child inside me adores magic books and movies. Well that is understandable as I am someone who grew up reading and writing Harry Potter and a long list of fantasy books. There were so many spells and magical items in Harry Potter but I particularly liked the invisibility cloack passed on to Harry by his late dad. I used to picture it like a soft, shiny shawl with a protective touch. It was protective as it used to protect Harry from the prying eyes of Filch and Snape.

invisibilitycloak
I would like to have the power to make myself invisible. It would be fascinating to make myself disappear with a Wave of a wand or a clasp of a hand. Even writing about it feels so good. I would use it for many tasks and spying is one of them. I don’t like eavesdropping unless and until someone is talking about me secretly. I guess I have exceptionally good hearing. The other purpose is of course protection. In today’s vulgar world you always have to be on guard. Forgive me for using the word “vulgar”, I was just referring to minimum protection we have these days when going out or late at night. It can serve other purposes like skipping a class unseen going to forbidden places like Harry used to go to the forbidden part of the library.
This is all in my today’s magical imagination. Write in the comments and tell me about yours.
